Topola is located in the heart of Šumadija, central wooded part of Serbia. It has became famous for First Serbian Uprising against Ottoman Empire in 1804. The leader was Karađorđe (means Black Đorđe in Turkish), significant character in Serbian history. He left great deal of monuments in Topola and Oplenac (hill near the town), such as churches he built, school, his residence and much more.
Šumadija is wooded area located in the center of Serbia. Besides its natural beauty, there are plenty of churches and residences of famous people from Serbian history. One of them was Prince Miloš Obrenović, who requested transport of water from Bukovik mineral springs, so it can be used in his court. Today, this water is bottled in factory near here, and it is also used for curing many diseases in the spa you can visit.
